The Australian Pink Floyd

Australians, we all like them so why not go see the best Pink Floyd tribute band in the world and meat some exciting Scottish people while we are at it.

The Band

The Australian Pink Floyd Show was formed in Adelaide, South Australia in 1988, but weren’t known as this until relocating to the UK. They were the first Pink Floyd tribute band to tour in the UK back in 1993, starting off with the first International Pink Floyd fan convention at Wembley convention centre. The event was run in conjunction with Brain Damage magazine.

These guys really are the sex; they’ve played at the Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury, even with the legends Pink Floyd themselves. Rumour has it that they played at David Gilmour’s 50th birthday bash as well.

The Performance

Their lineup now includes a lead singer who was able to take over some of the tricky stuff and let the guitarists do what they do best, play perfect note-for-note tuneage. Because of this, they were able to perform songs such as “On The Turning Away” which is one of Pink Floyd’s more vocal songs. Its actually impossible to not be amazed by the quality of the band’s music. Their rendition of “The Great Gig In The Sky” almost brought a tear to Woolie’s eye, however that could have been that the singer was hot I suppose. As always, they’ve invested in lots more impressive looking processing units, components and flashing LEDs which re-create the Floyd sound perfectly, and provided some entertainment for Woolie.

The light show was stunning as always and standing at the front allowed us to get a unique one off suntan from the front stage lights. Since recruiting an original member of the Pink Floyd tech team to help with the light choreography, you feel like you were back at the 1994 Earl’s Court P.U.L.S.E performance. Every aspect of the lighting leaves you in awe, and in our case, slightly closer to blindness.

So what did we think?

Well, after being accosted by the nice Scottish couple who’s cousins were Nigel Mansell and Rod Stewart we decided to run away and watch the band instead. Well, they were awesometastic:

Now, last year, we thought they were pretty damn good, but this time they were spot on! How these guys keep improving I will never know…

Yesh, it’s making me want to go see them live.

Also, about those LEDs. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could buy some LEDs which vibrated and created sound waves?

Vibrated and created sound waves? Duncan, you scare me.

Yea… Man crush! (in the “Man Crisps” sense :) )

Man Crisps!

Sorry to disappoint Matt, but I don’t think I’ll ever be attracted to an Australian…it just wouldn’t work…however sexy bass man was.

Would have had his stack though.
