SRS Audio Sandbox Review

Thursday, April 26th, 2007 at 10:37 pm

In my never ending quest to get more bass, I have invested in a bit of software known as SRS Audio Sandbox. Its basically a graphic equaliser with a twist. Perhaps this article will enlighten you a little more, and persuade you to download the trial or something.

So What Is It?

I’m pretty crap at explaining things, so its probably best if I just copy the website’s description:

“SRS Audio Sandbox” will provide amazing audio immersion and maximum thump for a personalized audio experience!”

To be honest that’s a pretty crap explanation. SRS Audio Sandbox basically provides you with a range of things you can do to your computer’s audio. There are quite a few features:

  • Sleek easy-to-use interface design with energizing sonic-like pulses
  • Realistic & enjoyable surround sound
  • Enjoy deep, rich bass
  • Choose from many cool presets for all your music, videos and games
  • Custom settings for headphones & desktop or surround speakers
  • Compatible with all music, videos & games on the PC
  • Compact mini mvode display option

I however, don’t use many of those features, all I bought (yes bought) it for was to give me some increased bass. Now that I have iTunes EQ set right, and the SRS Audio Sandbox running, I can get some pretty awesome bass. The difference is that the SRS Audio Sandbox doesn’t just increase the amplitude of the bass frequencies, it does some fancy shit with the above harmonics and fools the brain. That’s probably all bullshit, but it makes it sound good :)

So anyway, here’s a screen-shot of the beast (click for large view).

If you’re interested, just go grab yourself a trial version here, its free for 14 days and as its only £10 I didn’t mind paying for it.

That thing must be full of a fat load of Wave Physicsy stuff. Also, I see you’ve been busy with all the article posts today.

Yea probably, the spec sheets for the individual things are pretty intense.

And, yes, I keep forgetting to write articles, so you know. Why not :)

Oh my, its Austin… Humm, I only get distortion if I have the pre amps up too high. But hey, at least you tried it.

And this blog is scary, be afraid, be very afraid.

Austin and others please note :

This is very important that you only run one plugin
at a time. Either you run DFX or you run SRS. You must
disable the other plugin regardless of whichever you are
running. In case you run both you are bound to get
distortion. Other plugins which will also get you distortion
with dfx are srs wow xt and srs circle surround II. Install srs sandbox —> dont run —> disable all audio plugins
—–> now launch it —-> great audio.

SRS Sandbox is one of the best audio enhancement plugin for media players. For complete details checkout

No freebies for you Ben, buy it like everyone else!

As a side note, I very much like SRS other than the fact it loses its last used settings after every shutdown which means irritatingly I have to select them again on startup (which means I normally forget and wonder several hours later why my mp3s sound crap).

Other than that, hurrah for science.

Makes my $30 AKG over-the-head phones sound like $200.

TruSurround XT with TruBass amped up is AMAZING. I FEEL the explosions in games and music is crystal clear.
